It was a joyous occasion on Sunday, 15th May when we gathered at the Centre to celebrate Wesak Day - the Birthday, the Enlightenment Day and the Parinibbana of the Buddha. Our prayers began with Veda chanting followed by bhajans. This year devotees had the opportunity to bathe a small statue of the Buddha which symbolizes the washing away of greed, hatred and ignorance and purification of one's heart and mind. The morning ended with take-away vegetarian lunch packs for all.
