In conjunction with International Women's Day (IWD) on 8th March, our Wanita Wing served tea to the children of the Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak OKU, Taman Island on Saturday, 7th March. The home was opened in June 2019 and houses 19 children with various disabilities. Their ages range from 13 to 49 years. Apart from five orphans, the rest are children of single mothers or single fathers. Pictures show our volunteers interacting with the children.
On the evening of Sunday, 8th March, after bhajans, we had a guest speaker from USA, Ms. Tan Cheng Imm who spoke on her activities relating to the empowerment of women. Her many achievements include setting up a shelter for Asian battered women and forming an All Asian Ladies Lion Dance Troupe. Her talk was very motivating and enjoyed by all.
