With the grace of Swami, our 35th Anniversary Celebrations were successfully held on the evening of Sunday, 29th September 2019. This happy occasion was graced by Bro. Mahendran, Bro. Billy Fong and Bro. Tan Kim Teik. About 80 devotees attended this function.
The evening's programme began with a short address by the MC of the evening, Bro. Gan Boon Teong. The Chairman, Bro. Alan Chew was then invited to give his Welcome Address. Prayers began with Veda chanting followed by bhajans which were contributed by NED members and also members from other centres, after which we had group singing by the centre's choir who delivered three songs- "I Love Sathya Sai", "My Heart Is Loving You" and "Take a Lesson from the Sun". The last song was led by 9 children from our Sunday tuition class who put up a good performance with their happy and joyful singing. (See video).
Next was the screening of a video showing NED's story and activities over the last 35 years with narration by Spiritual Co-ordinator, Bro. Y.K. Lee. Devotees were each given a copy of this video. Our handmade bookmarks were also available for distribution.
Our three VIP's were then invited to give their speeches and this was followed by the anniversary cake cutting by three of our Trustees, Bro. Loo, Sis. Gan and Sis. Loh to the strains of the bhajan "Sai Ram, Sai Ram". The evening ended with Arathi and the serving of a vegetarian dinner for all.
NED has come a long way since its inception in the 1980's and we are blessed to have a team of devotees dedicated to Swami's work over these many years. We offer our humble thanks and gratitude to Swami for His boundless love, guidance and blessings and may we continue to be His worthy instruments for many more years to come!
