We celebrated Krishna Janmashtami on the evening of Sunday, 24th August with prayers beginning with Rudram chanting, Krishna bhajans and Sai mantras and ending with the recitation of Verse 1 of the Krishnashtakam.*
* vasudeva sutam devam kamsa canuramardanam
devaki paramanandam krsnam vande jagagurum
I offer my obeisance to Lord Krsna, the beloved son of Vasudeva, who killed the great demons Kamsa and Canura, who is the source of great joy to Mother Devaki and who is indeed a world teacher and spiritual master of the universe.
