Christmas at NED

Ho Ho Ho - Merry Christmas!

Christmas Message by Sis. Agnes
Arathi by Bro. Mahendran

Our Christmas bhajan began at 10 a.m. with the joyous singing of bhajans, devotional songs and Christmas carols.  After prayers and the Christmas message, Santa Claus made his appearance to the delight of the children and distributed presents to both young and old. About 70 devotees, family members and friends were present for the morning's celebrations.  Also present were SSIOM President, Bro.Mahendran who delivered a short address, and Penang State Co-ordinator, Bro. Tan.  The morning ended with light refreshments for all.

Weekly Seva (No. 24)

It was a double celebration at the Home on Saturday, 22nd December - Christmas and Winter Solstice!  We had a Christmas carols sing-a-long with the old folks after which two Christian ladies of the Home cut a cake which was distributed to all.  We served veg noodles for dinner, followed by "kuih ee" (glutinous rice balls) and cookies.  We are glad we were able to bring some Christmas joy to these simple old people and hope they will be blessed with good health and happiness for the rest of their lives.

Early morning exercise

This week, in addition to the Saturday dinner, we also made an extra serving of breakfast on Sunday morning. Our volunteers were at the home at around 7 a.m. to do exercises together with the old folks. They then served breakfast of fried beehoon and homemade buns at 8 a.m.

Weekly Seva (No.22)

We are very happy to see this Saturday that Uncle Beng's health has improved.  Since doing the exercises introduced by one of our volunteers, he can now stand and walk better!

Dinner for this week: Tofu with pumpkin, bean sprouts
and beetroot soup with mixed veg/tofu

This Sunday, 9th December we had a short exercise session with the old folks before serving them breakfast .  We are also happy to see that Aunty Jeewa, who seldom talks, is feeling better and actually greeted our volunteer "Good Morning" for the first time.
