Fun Session for the Kids

Last Sunday, 25th November was the last English tuition class for our students before we close for the school holidays.  Unfortunately, not all the regular students turned up as some had already gone on holiday. Still we managed to make this class a fun session for the kids by dressing them up in old newspaper according to what they would like to be (cook, police, teacher, princess, dancer)!  The children had much fun and so did the teachers!  The student who was dressed as a princess received a prize for the best "costume".

Our tuition classes will re-open on January 6, 2019.  Till then, happy holidays, kids!

Evening bhajans

Divine message

Cake cutting ceremony

Bhagavan's 93rd Birthday Celebrations began with Omkar/Suprabhatam/Namaavali in the early morning of 23rd November.  The prayers were followed by bhajans.

In the evening, our prayers began at 7.45 p.m. with Vedic chanting followed by bhajans and Sai mantras.  A short video on "Ceiling on Desires" was screened after the Divine message.  The highlight of the evening was the cutting of Bhagavan's birthday cake by a longtime devotee, whose birthday also falls on the same day.  The cake ceremony was accompanied by the joyous singing of Bhagavan's birthday song and the popular bhajan, "Sai Ram, Sai Ram".  About 60-70 devotees attended the celebrations which concluded at about 10.30 p.m. with a simple vegetarian dinner for all.

Lunch for the Aged

In conjunction with Ladies' Day and Swami's 93rd Birthday Celebrations, the Wanita Wing organised a lunch for the residents of the Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged in Sg.Dua on Sunday, 18th November.  The food was specially catered from a vegetarian restaurant who provided several dishes with rice and ice kacang for dessert.  Our volunteers helped to feed the sick and immobile in the medical wards and also served the mobile ones in the community hall.

Deepavali Home Visits

On this festive occasion, some NED members visited Sis. (Mrs.) Ratnam (in pink) and Bro. & Sis. (Mrs.) Mahendran to wish them a happy and blessed Deepavali.  These three devotees are in their 90's and have been in Swami's fold for over forty years.  Due to age and health reasons, they have not been able to come to the Centre or participate in our activities.

We also visited another old devotee, Bro. Ong Im Huat at his home.  Bro. Ong is also in his 90's and for the same reasons, has not been able to come to the Centre.  He was very happy to share with us memories of his trips to Puttaparthi some years ago.

We wish them joy, peace and good health in the coming years.

Two elderly uncles, Uncle Ong and Uncle Chew were recently taken in by the Home.  Unfortunately, Uncle Chew suddenly fell ill and has been admitted to hospital.  He is presently under observation.

The Home will be celebrating its 13th Anniversary on 18th November and has very kindly invited us to attend the function.  We extend our congratulations to the Home and hope it will continue in its efforts to give the elderly a pleasant and peaceful place to stay in.
