Swami's 89th Birthday

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's 89th Birthday was celebrated at SSBC Ned with Omkar & Suprabatham in the early hours of November 23rd, 2014.  At 5.30am sharp, the holy chants of 21 Oms filled the air with positive vibrations.  This was followed with 108 Naamavali and bhajans.  After arathi, vegetarian breakfast was served to all who were present.

In the same evening, devotees started arriving at 6.00pm and they were shown two videos on Swami and His mission.  At 7.30pm, the birthday celebrations commenced with Veda chanting and Sai bhajans.  This was followed with lighting of Swami's cake and singing His birthday song.  After arathi, vegetarian refreshments was distributed to everyone.

Swami's 89th Birthday

Sai 89th Birthday Service Activity

In conjunction with Swami's 89th birthday, Ned members conducted a service activity at a senior home, namely, Silver Jubilee Home at Sungai Dua, Penang, on November 16th, 2014.

We began at 10.00am with prayers and bhajans held at their community hall.  At 10.30am, whilst our sisters were cutting some fruits and preparing the vegetarian food for distribution, a group of volunteers entertained the senior folks with some songs and dance.

At 11.00am, we began feeding at the wards which had around 70-80 residents who were mostly confined to their beds.  After that, we distributed food in the community hall for about 200 people.  Fruits and ice-cream was also served as dessert.

Sai 89th Birthday Service Activity

Sai Ladies Day 2014

For Sai Ladies Day, our sisters and brothers visited the homes of five senior members of Ned, namely, Bro Ooi Hwa Bin, Sis Mrs Ratnam, Bro Mahendran and his wife, and lastly Sis Wee Keow Hoon on November 15th, 2014.  We brought along some gifts to bring cheer to them, as well as, spent time to talk and sing bhajans in their homes.  Sis Wee Keow Hoon hosted a sumptuous vegetarian lunch for everyone who was present.

Sai Global Akhanda Bhajan 2014

 

This year was Ned's turn to host the Sai Global Akhanda Bhajan 2014 for Penang State.  The venue chosen was Sri Kunj Bihari Temple at Penang Road.  

The event began with the arrival of Swami's Padukas at 4.30pm, Nov 8th.  The welcoming entourage carried Swami's palanquin around the temple before proceeding to the second floor where the Akhanda Bhajans were to be held.  This was followed with Vedic and Rudram chanting, as well as Naamavalli.  Bro Sivabalan Vadiveloo then concluded the prayers with a brief explanation on the significance of Swami's Padukas.

At 6.00pm sharp, the bhajans began with members from all centers/bhajan units of Penang.  Each slot was two hours long and every center/bhajan unit took turns to offer their songs of worship to the Lord.  The Sai Global Akhanda Bhajans ended at 6.00pm on Nov 9th.

Bro Mathavan Suppiah, the State Coordinator for Penang, reiterated on the significance of Swami's padukas to all who were present.  He then invited every chairman of centers/bhajan units to offer in unison the mangala arathi which marks an auspicious ending to another blissful experience.
